The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is pleased to announce an artist talk by Henthorne.

In conjunction with New Visions, FMoPA’s annual platform for artists navigating contemporary aesthetic and cultural trends, Henthorne will officially unveil his “Coastal Florida” series. At 7 p.m. on July 30th, the artist will discuss the series, shot along the vast expanse of Florida’s coastline, at FMoPA, his hometown museum. The 21 black and white photographs comprising “Coastal Florida“ examine intersections of earth and ocean, serving as environmental documents as well as ethereal homages to nature often verging on the surreal.

“We are pleased to provide a space for one of Tampa’s acclaimed photographers to discuss his Florida-centric work with the Tampa art museum community. Henthorne’s series represents, in part, a celebration not only of coastal Florida, but of Florida photography,” says Zora Carrier, FMoPA’s Executive Director.

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is one of fewer than ten museums in the United States dedicated exclusively to photography and one of two such museums in the state of Florida. FMoPA seeks to enrich the lives of the citizens of the Tampa Bay area by providing rare, specialized access to the wonders of photography not only as an aesthetic form but also as a multi-faceted historical and contemporary document of our world through exhibitions, education, outreach programs, and local collaborations.

Reception: 6 p.m. | Artist Talk: 7 p.m.

Refreshments and flatbreads will be graciously provided by local favorite, Pane Rustica.

Admission: Free for members, $10 for not-yet members.
