AMA Tampa BayAlready touted as the fastest growing chapter in the American Marketing Association, the Tampa Bay chapter is ramping up their efforts to continue to provide a unique experience for its vast membership.

On the heels of a redesigned logo and website, the Tampa Bay chapter’s newly elected President Chris Bush said that one of his main goals during his tenure is to enrich the level of engagement that marketing professionals can expect.

The five-year member, and father of three, was recently announced as the chapter’s newly elected President.

Bush’s marketing career started more than three decades ago as a sales associate in Ohio. While his business rebranded itself a handful of times since then, Bush has remained loyal and spent each of his 34 years in the industry calling the same company home.

“It’s been unique because while I’ve worked in the same place, I’ve seen so much variety,” said Bush. “I’ve worked with Fortune 500 Companies and mom and pop startups. It’s been really fascinating”

Bush says that same diversity applies to the members of the Tampa Bay AMA chapter. The variety of professionals, from college graduates, to marketing executives and all facets in between is what makes the job of chapter President so appealing.

“We partner with local collegiate chapters and welcoming their leadership to our board meetings to observe real world situations,” said Bush “We are also making sure that established professionals get the most out of our organization. We are always planning new events and ways to stay involved with local companies and professionals that cement our commitment to the professional community.”

The most important goal in Bush’s eyes is a growing attendance focused on engagement. With the continuing reliability of mobile devices in people’s personal and professional worlds, creating a mobile-infused organization will bring a new level of interaction.

“We want to be engaged with our members and potential members from a mobile standpoint by attempting to build a cutting edge, vibrant chapter that people want to engage with socially and have the ability to network through without events being labeled as a ‘networking event,’” added Bush.

The AMA Tampa Bay chapter is the fastest growing chapter of the American Marketing Association and is made up of more than 400 marketing professionals from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Clearwater.

Any organization is as strong as its people. We have some amazingly strong members and the more we get involved, the stronger we can become,” said Bush. “We want to attract and retain good, quality volunteers because when you get involved, even just an hour per month, you get so much more out of the membership because that’s when you truly network and meet people from different walks of life.”
