Open house set for Girls Inc of Pinellas UPA campus

Girls Inc logoGirls Inc of Pinellas has collaborated with University Preparatory Academy to create a Girls Inc Summer Camp on the campus of the Academy in central St Petersburg. Through this partnership, Girls Inc of Pinellas is able to serve an additional 50+ girls, most of whom are receiving full scholarship.

Bridgette Heller of the Heller Family Foundation, and former board member for Girls Inc National, spearheaded the fundraising efforts to fund Summer Camp for the south St Pete Campus of Girls Inc Pinellas. Through her efforts and generous donations from individuals, the summer program is in week five and thriving!

The Open House will take place, tomorrow, July 8 at 1701 10th St S, St Petersburg, FL 33705, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.

Girls Inc is a national organization celebrating 150 years of affiliation. Since 1961, Girls Inc of Pinellas has made an impact on young women through our academic enrichment and support programs, life skills instruction, and activities focused on healthy living. As the “best place for girls ages 5-17”, our organization is licensed by the Pinellas County Licensing Board and we serve close to 400 girls each year in our after school program, Spring Break Camp, and Operation SMART Summer Camp. We are able to provide need-based scholarships and tuition assistance. We promote STEM education. We emphasize literacy, art, health, and wellness. We address social issues like anti-bullying, violence prevention, and media awareness.
