Junior Achievement of New York (JA New York) announces Gavin G. O’Connor, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs, as its new Chair of the Board of Directors, effective July 1st. Outgoing Board Chair, Richard J. Poccia, Partner, PwC US passed the gavel to Mr. O’Connor at the organization’s June 25th Board meeting.

Mr. Poccia steps down after serving four years as Board Chair and will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. His successor, Mr. O’Connor, has previously served as Vice Chair & Chair of the Resource Development Committee, and has served on the Board for seven years.

“As a long-time member of the JA New York Board, I’ve seen the impressive work that’s been done by the organization in collaboration with corporate, school and community partners,” said Mr. O’Connor. “Thanks to Rich’s efforts, we can look forward to building upon four years of revitalization and growth. We have exciting times ahead of us, and I look forward to working with our stellar Board and staff to continue to make good on our promise to empower young people to own their economic success.”

Gavin O’Connor received his undergraduate degree from Fairfield University and his graduate degree from NYU Stern. He is a resident of Washington Township, Bergen County, NJ.
