Veteran public relations executive Chip Sullivan joins NBC Entertainment

NBC Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit ConcertVeteran public relations and communications expert Chip Sullivan has been named Executive Vice President, Communications, at NBC Entertainment, it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.  In his new position, Sullivan will be the chief communications executive for the NBC network and Universal Television, reporting directly to Greenblatt.

At NBC, Sullivan will be responsible for the strategic creative development and execution of all programming and media relations initiatives for the network and Universal Television. In addition to overseeing program publicity, talent relations, photography, events and awards campaigns, Sullivan will also serve as liaison with the larger NBCUniversal as well as parent company Comcast, responsible for press relations pertaining to industry issues and public affairs.

Sullivan has been involved in all the various incarnations of DreamWorks live action and animated films for nearly twenty years.  He most recently served as the Head of Global Brand Integration and Publicity for DreamWorks Animation.  He joined the company in 1995 as Head of Special Projects and worked on award-winning films such as “Saving Private Ryan,” “American Beauty,” “Gladiator” and “Shrek.”

Following the animation studio’s IPO in 2004 and Paramount Pictures’ acquisition of DreamWorks Studios in 2005, Sullivan played a role at both companies where he oversaw Corporate Communications for the live action studio on such films as “Sweeney Todd,” “Dreamgirls,” and “Transformers,” and Special Marketing Projects at the animation studio on films including “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar.”

After DreamWorks Studios partnered with The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group in 2009, Sullivan worked on films including “The Help,” “War Horse,” and “Lincoln.” He has contributed to the campaigns for DreamWorks Animation films including “The Croods” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”  Prior to joining DreamWorks, Sullivan served as Director of Special Projects at Walt Disney Studios.  He is a graduate of Bentley College.
