Florida Museum of Photographic Arts announces dates for children’s summer camp

The Tampa art museum will host classes for children aged seven to ten starting in June

Children's photoThe Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is pleased to announced its summer camps for children beginning June 1st through July 31st. Each camp is 5 days long, with each day lasting from 10 – 4 pm.

This summer, FMoPA will offer a diverse range of photography summer camps for children. During the month of June, children in age groups 7-10 and 11-15 can register for camps with instructor Samantha Burns. She will be offering workshops titled “Visual Storytelling” and “Experimental Photography”. Students will be introduced to basic processes and a variety of unique photographic methods, such as pinhole photography and cyanotypes. Parents can sign their child up for either of these camps based on designated weeks for each age group. The price for these camps is $160 per week, or $140 per week for museum members.

In July, instructor Kim Hicks will be offering four different classes for children aged 7-15. The titles of the classes are “Scavenger Hunt Photo”, “Perfecting Portraiture”, “Edit Those Photos”, and “Making Memories with Motion”. Students will be learning basic photography techniques and developing their vocabulary and knowledge of genres of photography, such as portraiture. Each week will offer new opportunities and fun activities. The price for these camps is $175 per week, or $155 per week for museum members.
