NBC to air series promos during Super Bowl XLIX coverage

'The Blacklist,' 'The Voice,' 'Odyssey,' 'Undateable' and New Neil Patrick Harris-Hosted Variety Show Among Network Series to Be Offered to Enormous Viewing Audience

NBC Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit ConcertWith Sunday’s Super Bowl set to deliver the most viewers of any television event of the year, NBC will use this enormous audience platform to promote many of its current, midseason and fall series.

Among the highlights:

“The Blacklist” spot (30 seconds) features Red Reddington (James Spader), who remains stoically calm amongst a sea of explosions and automotive chaos. “The Blacklist” airs the first of an electrifying two-part episode immediate following the Super Bowl before moving to its new 9 p.m. Thursday timeslot beginning Feb. 5.

“The Voice” spot (60 seconds) features a futuristic setting in which the four coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams) embrace the challenge for the upcoming season. The newest cycle of the Emmy Award-winning musical competition series begins Monday, Feb. 23 (8-10 p.m.).

In the 15-second spot for “Odyssey, Sgt. Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel) explains that, despite her military unit having been murdered, she remains alive and is being hunted for vital information she possesses. “Odyssey” is a complex journey through global politics, corporate espionage and military secrets involving three strangers who only have one thing in common … the truth. The series begins Sunday, April 5 at 10 p.m.

The 30-second “Undateable” clip is a parody of NBC’s hit show “Chicago Fire” as all of the “Undateable” bar dwellers (Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, David Fynn and Rick Glassman) are being hosed down by Bianca Kajlich and Bridgit Mendler. The second season of “Undateable” begins Tuesday, March 17 at 9 p.m.

The final 15-second promo features Emmy Award-winner Neil Patrick Harris, who will host NBC’s upcoming variety show based on the successful U.K. series “Saturday Night Takeaway.” The series, which is scheduled for fall, will feature comedy sketches, musical numbers, mini game shows, hidden-camera celebrity pranks and appearances by A-listers.

NBC’s Super Bowl XLIX coverage begins 9 a.m. Sunday. The game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is set for 3 p.m.
