Following the release of their widely anticipated third album “Elypse,” Sony Music Latin superstars Camila are set for their U.S. debut with a performance at the 2014 Miss USA competition on June 8, 2014.
The performance, which will air on NBC, will be the first English speaking network the duo has performed on since the group’s inception in 2005.
The 2014 Miss USA competition is also set to include performances by Florida Georgia Line and special guests Nelly, Marc Broussard and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Giuliana Rancic and Thomas Roberts will host the competition.
The appearance will come on the heels of the group’s third studio album “Elypse” which features the smash single, “Decidiste dejarme,” and was the top selling album on iTunes in 16 countries, including the U.S., the day it was released.
A notable new chapter in the group’s life, “Elypse,” which was influenced by the best of rock, blues, funk, electronica, dubstep and classic jukebox favorites, marks the duo’s “most interesting, spiritual and introspective work,” according to guitarist Pablo Hurtado.
The group, which reached the top of the charts in Mexico and beyond, was created by singer and producer Mario Domm and Hurtado in 2005.
“There were two possible options,” says Domm. “To repeat ourselves or follow our intuition to allow the group to evolve naturally. We chose the second option.”
Camila’s previous two albums, “Todo Cambió” and “Dejarte de amar,” established the group as one of the most successful Latin bands of all time while bringing the duo three Latin GRAMMY Awards and three Billboard Latin Music Awards.
