Cypress Palms to host second annual ‘Healthy Heart Resource Fair’

Cypress PalmsCoinciding with February’s distinction as American Heart Month and the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign, Cypress Palms enhanced assisted living community is proud to announce the second annual “Healthy Heart Resource Fair” on Feb. 25, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Featuring an assortment of informational sessions, Cypress Palms’ “Healthy Heart Resource Fair” will educate attendees about the latest advances, newest therapies, adaptive equipment and traditional and alternative approaches to cardiovascular health. The American Heart Association will also be present.

“We’re proud to do whatever we can to educate the community on the importance of cardiovascular health,” said Pradeep Muley, executive director of Cypress Palms, an enhanced assisted living community at The Palms of Largo. “By tying into American Heart Month and ‘Go Red for Women,’ we’re able to reach the largest possible audience at a time when cardiovascular health is on everyone’s mind.”

The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with an “Exercise with Ian” session, hosted by Ian McGarrity, executive director of The Bonsai Holistic Spa, who has extensive expertise in fitness for individuals who have experienced a stroke or have Parkinson’s disease. At 11:00 a.m., attendees will learn about “Cardiovascular Wellness in Women” with Christi Seykors, ARNP, from Mobile Physician Services.

Activities will continue at 12:00 p.m. when Ronald Walsh, D.O., Cardiologist of The Heart & Vascular Institute, will teach attendees about the “Latest Innovations & Treatment Options for Cardiovascular Health.” The final session begins at 1:00 p.m. and features Dr. Kedar Shetye from The Renal Hypertension Center, teaching about “Hypertension and Its Effects on the Cardiovascular System.”

In addition to the educational sessions, the “Healthy Heart Resource Fair” will feature 24 vendors, including Able Palms Home & Health Care Services, Inc., The Bonsai Holistic Spa and Sabal Palms Health Care Center, all part of The Palms of Largo. Vendors will also be hosting drawings and have prizes for attendees that visit their booths.

Boxed lunches and door prizes will also be provided for those in attendance.

Cypress Palms’ “Healthy Heart Resource Fair” will take place at Cypress Palms enhanced assisted living community on 400 Lake Avenue NE in Largo, Fla.
