Adobe PDF Java Toolkit, Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions now available exclusively through Datalogics

(PR NewsChannel) / July 9, 2012 / CHICAGO

Continuing their collaboration with Adobe Systems, Chicago-based Datalogics, Inc., the premier source for Adobe PDF and eBook technologies announced the availability of the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit and the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions. These toolkits enable Java developers to support powerful PDF functionality within their applications using genuine Adobe technology. The Adobe PDF Java Toolkit and the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions now join the other Adobe technologies available through Datalogics, including the (C++-based) Adobe PDF Library, Adobe Normalizer, Adobe PDF Print Engine, Adobe Reader Mobile SDK, Adobe Content Server, Adobe Digital Publishing Suite and Adobe InDesign Server.

The Adobe PDF Java Toolkit (PDFJT) is a powerful Java PDF SDK from Adobe Systems. Built as the successor to the popular XPAAJ (XML/PDF Access API for Java) API, PDFJT is core infrastructure of the Adobe LiveCycle services and powers much of its PDF and forms manipulation functionality. After years of development and internal refinement inside Adobe, this is being made available to application developers and systems integrators exclusively through Datalogics.

PDFJT provides a broad range of functionality for working with PDF files, including PDF creation and manipulation, text extraction, Java filestream support for improved performance, support for bookmarks and annotations, and digital signature support.

The Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions (PDFJT/RE) includes all of the functionality of the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit and adds support for “reader extending” documents programmatically. “Reader extending” refers to the ability to enable documents to activate extended functionality when opened in Adobe Reader. Functionality includes enabling users to: save in-progress PDF forms data locally, add and save annotations, integrate with web services for PDF forms and documents and apply digital signatures. All this functionality is enabled in the free Adobe Reader client.

“More and more developers have been asking us for enhanced PDF forms capabilities,” remarked Kevin McNeill, President of Datalogics. “Now with Adobe PDF Java Toolkit and Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions, they can build powerful solutions using genuine Adobe technology.”

Both toolkits, PDFJT and PDFJT/RE, are initially available for Windows 32, Windows 64, Linux 32 and Linux 64 platforms. Additional platforms are available upon request. Evaluation versions of both toolkits are also available – visit www.datalogics.com for more details.

Datalogics has been selected as the worldwide partner for the licensing and support of the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit and the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit with Reader Extensions. Datalogics has licensed Adobe technologies to over 600 customers in 50 countries and continues to provide ongoing support. Customers have released over 1,000 products built using the technologies we provide.
