In “Upside Down” (ISBN 1463715951), Jane E. Jonas shares the story of losing her husband in a terrible accident. Jonas hopes that others who have dealt with personal loss will see that they are not alone in feeling the way they do, and that it is possible to pull through any tragedy.

“Upside Down” is the personal memoir of Jonas’ cathartic journey through grief and describes the years of “grief-filled existence” that Jonas experienced.  Fearing she would forget the memories shared with her husband, Jonas wrote grief journals and stories, through which she tells part of her story, and she incorporated these journals into the book.

While the beginning relates the story of how her husband died and describes the anguish Jonas felt, she uses some of the later chapters to explain the steps taken in order to put herself back together. She describes the roller coaster ride of emotions that she experienced, including sadness, unbearable pain, anger, sarcasm, humor and eventually acceptance and joy in living.

Jonas wants readers to understand that this is not a self-help book, but a personal experience that readers can relate to.

“I believe my story can help others who find themselves in tragic circumstances. They can take to heart that they too are not crazy, but are grieving in the way they need to in order to move on. I am not looking to give advice, I am simply relating my experience,” Jonas says.

Jonas notes that readers need to be prepared for a raw and honest experience. She feels that while she doesn’t sugarcoat anything, she can still offer hope and proof of surviving grief and becoming a better person because of it.

“It’s a story about hope and survival in the face of complete loss,” Jonas says.

“Upside Down” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
