Esteemed truffle icon, connoisseur inducted into prestigious food society

Businesswoman and truffle grower Susan Alexander will be welcomed into the esteemed food and wine society, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs this weekend. The induction ceremony will be the main feature at the “Vive La Truffle!” event in Portsmouth.

Alexander has established and is cultivating the largest truffle orchard on 200 acres of farmland, making it the largest truffle orchard in the United States and second largest in the world.

She will be inducted to the New Hampshire chapter of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs as the “Professionnel de la Table” for her efforts to bring French black truffles to the U.S.  The French-themed event will feature a five course meal with many of the dishes using variations of her famous black Perigord truffles.

The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is the world’s oldest international gastronomic society, founded in Paris in 1248. The Chaine is a gourmet society of individuals united by an appreciation of great food prepared by outstanding chefs and wine at its best. The society was originated in 1248 under St. Louis King of France. Members include many of the crowned heads of Europe as well as persons of highest talent and distinction.
